Elle is seeking a creative and proactive counseling intern to join them at Mountain Psychotherapy. The ideal candidate will be devoted to serving LGBTQIA++ individuals and want to learn more about how to best support clients and their families navigate the unique challenges marginalized youth face in today's society. Elle, a licensed therapist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, will supervise individual clinical and administrative work.

Elle is a white, nonbinary, queer, neurodivergent therapist committed to amplifying the voices of LGBTQ people. Through this internship opportunity, Elle's goal is to expand the availability of accessible, thorough and nurturing therapy services to LGBTQ clients in NJ, PA, and beyond. Elle aspires to support the next generation of clinicians to find their space in the clinical world.

Responsibilities:

Engage and provide direct individual and group therapy services to adolescents and adults in the office and remotely (via Zoom).

Independently maintain a weekly schedule.

Be open to learning evidence-based practices used in the agency, such as Feminist therapy, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR.

Complete all case documentation (treatment plans, progress notes, communications, CPS reports, etc.) in a timely manner determined by practice policies.

Demonstrate clinical competence by interacting with clients ethically, professionally and using supervision/group consultation as needed.

Coordinate with other medical or mental health providers when appropriate to provide comprehensive care to clients.

Internship Expectations:
​

Commitment to practicing from an antiracist, intersectional, LGBTQ-nurturing lens.

Attend 1-hour, or more, of supervision each week.

Complete clinical notes on a weekly basis.

Maintain a weekly schedule of 20 hours per week, preferably a few hours on the weekend.

Foster the development of a group therapy program for youth (see below)

Special Initiative:
​

Develop and execute a therapy group for LGBTQ youth at an accessible time during the week. This group would offer a safe and supportive space for young people to explore their gender and sexualities. The therapist would foster a non-judgmental, confidential, creative, and inquisitive environment for members to share experiences, ask questions, and receive support from peers and professionals. The therapist would also provide education and resources on topics such as intersectionality, antiracism, internalized homophobia/transphobia/sexism, transition, and identity exploration. This group will offer youth a space to build relationships, find community, and better understand themselves and their identities.
